There is a circus on the outskirts of our village. For years now I'm driving by, to where the circus performs at irregular intervals. For By the End oft he Road I took the time to get to know the circus family and their lives in the ring and in everyday life. Long working days of setting up and dismantling the tent and their homes, prejudices and weak visitor numbers are just a few things the family is confronted with. But there is also magic and a sense of strong togetherness, which also includes the animals.
The pandemic hit the family hard and forced the circus to standstill. Now it is unclear how it will go on.
